New Year, New Resolutions?
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you had a fabulous start to 2009! My household had a somewhat hectic start to 2009. A stomach bug got me into bed laid me out on the couch at 8:30pm. The only saving grace was that I got to sleep in the next morning until the amazing hour of 9:30am!
Needless to say, I got a rough start with New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t hate New Year’s Resolutions like some people. I don’t love it like others. I think it is just a part of life. I think it’s a good think to take a look back on what’s come before and what you want to come ahead and figure out how to get there. So, that’s how I think about it.
But, this year, I couldn’t think of any New Year’s Resolutions that weren’t cliche. I mean, can’t we all most of us resolve to be healthier…to eat less, drink less, exercise more. We can resolve to be nicer people, to change a bad habit, etc. I couldn’t think of anything that was achievable in one year and could help me be a better me, help my family have a better year, help me be a better wife, etc. It took a while, but I found that some of the best resolutions were already out there - that other people have already thought of some great things that are relevant to me. Here is my round up of the best New Year’s Resolutions from around the world wide web!
I will post more on this one in a future post, but it’s a good one. Everyone should feel like what they are doing is fulfulling, how much better would it be if it bettered the world we live in!
I tend to be a stickler for the plan. Whatever the plan is, I have to achieve the goal. This year, I’m going to relax a bit more, allow the plan to slide a bit as long as it’s for a good reason!
3. I will pay more attention to those who matter.
Those who matter - my kids, my husband, myself, my extended family, and people who don’t have family and friends to care for them. I will pay more attention to these people - for sure.
I am so blessed to have 2 healthy kids, a good marriage, family and friends, a job that pays me a living wage, and more. I’m going to be more appreciative of it this year.
I’ve had so many projects running through my head and not having them finished frustrates me. This year I am going to finish some of them. Maybe not a big one, small ones are ok, but finishing them. Even the ones I’ve been waiting for someone else to help with…I’ll find a way to get some of them done (notice I didn’t say all of them!)
6. In 2009, I will rant less and swear less.
I have a tendency to vent. I’m going to try to do less of it. And the swearing part - just makes sense given that I have a 2 year old whose vocabulary expands daily!
Here are some I don’t think make sense for my life….but they made me laugh!
So, what are your resolutions? Did you make any? Which ones are most important to you? Share with us!

I do it every year and they’re always the same. My number one being to get healthy. Let’s see if I can stick to it this time around! =)

I love your attitude Andrea. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel, after all! But I also like your willingness to take it easy on yourself this year, deliberately moving more toward a Type B from a Type A. Stuff will still get done, but you’ll be a lot happier without that pressure on yourself. Try it, you’ll like it.

Wow–This just proves that we can all learn from each other. I LOVEd reading the various resolutions–and I felt as if I needed to adopt all of them! Maybe my true resolution should be to not take on too many resolutions at once!

So loving the commitment to alter your goals if necessary. I think it’s not so much about the goals, but keeping your intention in the right place…
Happy New Year!
